Gadjiev's colleagues hold pickets in his support
At their solo pickets held in Makhachkala, Magomed Magomedov and Magdi Kamalov, the deputy editor-in-chief and the founder of the "Chernovik" (Draft) weekly edition, accordingly, demanded to set the journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev free and put an end to the practice of unjustified arrests.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that colleagues and friends of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a "Chernovik" journalist, are regularly holding solidarity pickets in Makhachkala.
Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable foundation, Kemal Tambiev and Abdulmumin Gadjiev were detained as suspects of financing of terrorism. Investigators believe that Gadjiev and his alleged accomplices had raised 68 million roubles and 200,000 US dollars for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping poor Muslims. Gadjiev insists on his innocence. His colleagues treat his persecution as pressure on him.
On April 12, two solo pickets were held in central Makhachkala. The first one was held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the "Chernovik", while Magdi Kamalov, the founder of the edition, was the initiator of the second solo picket, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Mr Magomedov told the "Caucasian Knot" that he went out to a solo picket demanding to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev and to stop his criminal prosecution. The second picket was held by Magdi Kamalov with a demand "to stop arrests without proofs."
