Ali Ozdamirov, native of Chechnya, extradited to Russia

A native of Chechnya, Ali Ozdamirov, has been extradited to Russia from Belgium; he is accused of an armed attack on a school in the village of Geldagan, Kurchaloi District of Chechnya, which resulted in the death of one person, and a theft of a large sum of money.

In 1996, Ozdamirov worked as a military teacher in the Geldagan village school. According to investigators, he had created an armed grouping with the aim of embezzling budget funds allocated for teachers' salaries and pupils' scholarships.

In April 1996, members of the grouping attacked the school and opened fire in it; they also captured a pack with money. The school principal was killed in the shootout; another employee was wounded.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 27, relatives reported the disappearance of Ibragim Musaev, 41, a native of the village of Sernovodsky, who flew to Greece in 2017 hoping to obtain political asylum there, but, having lost the hope, returned to Russia.

In September 2019, Georgian authorities extradited to Russia Ramzan Akhyadov, a 40-year-old native of the Vedeno District of Chechnya. On March 19, 2021, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on charges of aiding terrorist activities and links with militants in Syria. On June 29, a court in the Moscow Region upheld his sentence.
