Azerbaijani sappers report demining of 3326 hectares

After the last autumn aggravation of the Karabakh conflict, sappers have demined 3326 hectares and defused almost 22,000 anti-tank and anti-personnel mines, as well as unexploded ordnances, the Azerbaijani National Anti-Mine Agency (ANAMA) has informed.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that after the full-scale hostilities in the fall of 2020, demining works are now underway in Nagorno-Karabakh. The sappers of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan, as well as Russian peacemakers, are engaged in these works.

On June 1-July 3, during the search operations in the Terter, Agdam, Fizuli, Shusha, Gubadli, Djebrail and Zangilan Districts, a total of 1087 anti-personnel and 316 anti-tank mines, and 461 unexploded ordnances were found and neutralized, the ANAMA reported on July 5.

During the above period, a total of 563 hectares were cleared of mines and unexploded ordnances.

Overall, after the end of hostilities, that is, from November 10, 2020, a total of 8509 antipersonnel mines, 3959 anti-tank mines and 9493 unexploded ordnances have been found and neutralized. An area of 3326 hectares has been cleared, the ANAMA has stated.
