Stavropol Territory: cemetery campaigning for vaccination angers Instagram users
Mikhail Minenkov, Mayor of Nevinnomyssk, has posted in his Instagram page an appeal of Oleg Kolpakov, the director of the city cemetery, to townspeople to get vaccinated. When addressing the people, Kolpakov is shown standing in the cemetery. Many social network users were outraged by the choice of the place for campaigning.
Mayor Minenkov posted the video clip in his Instagram page on July 19.
"I don't want to agitate you, and I myself don't like empty advertising and empty agitation. I want to show you how much our cemetery has grown during the pandemic," Oleg Kolpakov has stated.
"Today is the age of visualists. A video footage can say more than numbers," Mayor Minenkov wrote in his comment to the video.
In their comments to the Mayor's post, many social media users have criticized this kind of campaigning. "It's disgusting to use a cemetery as persuasion," the user zhanna_rogovenko has written.
"The worst piece of propaganda; he would have also come to the morgue," the user kristinakiseleva477 has suggested.
"The virus is here, but this is not a reason to advertise it amid graves," the user igormedvedev4446 has written.
