Gadjiev’s colleagues oppose prosecution of journalists
In Makhachkala, participants of four pickets demanded to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev and to stop pressure on journalists and arrests without evidence.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that every week, in Makhachkala, activists hold solo pickets in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a correspondent of the newspaper “Chernovik” (Rough Draft). His colleagues consider cases of pressure on the media and criminal prosecution of journalists to be an all-Russian trend.
According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a correspondent of the newspaper “Chernovik”, acting jointly with Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charity fund, and Kemal Tambiev, raised 68 million roubles and 200,000 US dollars for terrorists under the pretext of helping Muslims.
Today, four solo pickets have been held in Makhachkala at the intersection of Dakhadaev Street and Gamzatov Avenue. According to one of the picketers, journalist Idris Yusupov, the first picket, with the demand to release Abdulmumin Gadjiev, was held by Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the “Chernovik”. The second solo picket, with the demand “to stop arrests without evidence,” was held by the Magdi Kamalov, a founder of the “Chernovik”. Idris Yusupov himself unfolded a poster demanding “freedom for political prisoners.” Activist Eduard Ataev held a picket in support of all journalists, Idris Yusupov told the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent.
