Azerbaijani villager killed in a mine explosion

Tractor driver Mamed Mardanov was killed while ploughing a land plot in the Azerbaijani border village of Bala Djafarli in the Gazakh District.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that residents of Azerbaijan are very often blown up by mines in the Karabakh conflict zone. So, on September 21, while working in the village of Garvand in the Agdam District, a tractor driver ran into an anti-tank mine and was injured.

The village of Bala Djafarli is located near the border with Armenia and was regularly subjected to shelling attacks during the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict, the executive authorities of the Gazakh District reported.

According to the General Prosecutor’s Office of Azerbaijan, in the period from November 10, 2020, to September 22, 2021, in the Karabakh conflict zone and near the border with Armenia, seven soldiers and 24 civilians were killed in mine explosions, while 91 soldiers and 38 civilians were injured.
