In Moscow Region, court sentences policemen for killing a native of Dagestan
Three former policemen are sentenced to 7-9 years of imprisonment in a case on the death of Sulli Yunusilau, a father of two-time MMA world champion Magomed Yunusilau. The Orekhovo-Zuevo City Court also awarded compensation for moral damage in the amount of 600,000 roubles.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on April 24, 2019, three policemen were arrested on suspicion of beating Sulli Yunusilau in the Moscow Region. The victim died in a hospital from his injuries a week after the beating. On May 2, Magomed Yunusilau claimed that the murder of his father was ordered. According to the athlete, the people who were beating Sulli Yunusilau deliberately wanted to kill him, and the motive was a conflict.
The Orekhovo-Zuevo City Court pronounced a guilty verdict against former employees of the Orekhovo-Zuevo Municipal Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA). The Court recognized that on the evening of April 11, 2019, on Gagarin Street in the city of Orekhovo-Zuevo, the defendants beat the native of Dagestan, who died in the hospital from his injuries, the Orekhovo-Zuevo City Court reported on its official website.
The Orekhovo-Zuevo City Court sentenced Blinov to nine years and Shishkanov to seven years of imprisonment, and Popov was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment in a high-security penal colony. The convicts are also prohibited from holding certain positions for two years. Besides, the convicts are to pay the compensation for moral damage in the amount of 600,000 roubles, the Orekhovo-Zuevo City Court reported.
