Izberbash: case on purchase of unfit housing for orphans reaches court
The criminal case about the purchase by an official from the city administration of apartments unfit for living intended for orphans has been sent to the court. While the case was being investigated, the administration provided the orphans with comfortable housing.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in 2020, officials of the Izberbash city administration bought 15 apartments worth over 16 million roubles for orphans in a house under construction, which was never finished.
According to investigators, the official from the Izberbash city administration had concluded, based on the results of the auction, municipal contracts for the purchase of apartments. However, at the time of signing the documents, the apartments had no electricity, plumbing, sewage, heating, bathrooms, and gas or electric stoves. The construction was not completed on time, which led to "a violation of orphans' rights and legitimate interests," who were forced to pay for rented housing, the Dagestani branch of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) reported on October 29.
Investigators "took measures to restore orphans' rights," as a result, the city administration bought comfortable apartments for them. The criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to the court, says the statement posted on the website of the ICRF's branch.
