Dagestani law enforcers disrupt picket in support of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev

Law enforcers did not let colleagues of journalist Abdulmumin Gadjiev hold a picket and took Magomed Magomedov, the deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly “Chernovik” (Rough Draft), to the Makhachkala police department. This was reported by journalist Idris Yusupov.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that activists regularly hold pickets in Makhachkala in support of Abdulmumin Gadjiev, a correspondent of the “Chernovik”. His colleagues consider cases of pressure on the media and criminal prosecution of journalists to be an all-Russian trend. Three such pickets were held on November 9.

According to investigators, Abdulmumin Gadjiev, Abubakar Rizvanov, the head of the "Ansar" charitable fund, and Kemal Tambiev had raised 68 million roubles and USD 200,000 for terrorists under the pretext of building mosques and helping Muslims.

According to Idris Yusupov, law enforcers approached Magomed Magomedov and requested an explanation. Magomed Magomedov usually prepares a written explanation for the police in advance. However, this time the police demanded from the activist to go to a police station to give an explanation, Idris Yusupov noted.
