In Dagestan, activist succeeds in seeking acquittal in case on police disobedience
In Makhachkala, a court closed a case against activist Salim Khalitov after finding the accusation of disobedience to the police unfounded. The defence announced filing a complaint against policemen and intends to demand compensation for the arrest of Salim Khalitov.
The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that after the elections to the State Duma and the People’s Assembly of Dagestan in September 2021, Salim Khalitov held a series of protests. On September 30, he went on a picket with a statement about the illegitimacy of the new convocation. On October 13, Salim Khalitov held another picket with the demand to return to the all-national elections for the leader of Dagestan. According to the activist, law enforcers attacked him, trying to provoke a fight.
The defence intends to file a complaint about abuse of power by the law enforcers and falsification of police reports.
