Musaeva complains to advocate about feeling unwell

At the SIZO (pre-trial prison), Zarema Musaeva is kept in solitary cell; she "barely walks"; she was called an ambulance twice, said Alexander Karavaev, an advocate, who has managed today to visit her at the SIZO for the first time.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on January 20, Zarema Musaeva, a spouse of retired federal judge Saidi Yangulbaev, was forcibly taken away by Chechen law enforcers from her apartment in Nizhny Novgorod to Grozny, after which Ramzan Kadyrov said that the Yangulbaev family faced a place “in prison or underground.” On January 31, it was reported that a criminal case had been instituted against Zarema Musaeva. According to the investigators’ version, the woman scratched the face of a law enforcer while she was in police custody. On February 1, the court ruled to arrest Zarema Musaeva for two months.

Read the “Caucasian Knot” reference material “How Yangulbaevs became Kadyrov’s enemies” to find how the conflict began, what accusations Ramzan Kadyrov voiced, what the Yangulbaev family answered the leader of Chechnya, and what role in the development of the situation was played by an opposition Telegram channel.

On February 4, advocates managed to achieve a meeting with Zarema Musaeva. According to her story, medical care is provided to her, but she feels bad. When her case on an administrative offense was considered by the court, and when the latter chose her freedom deprivation measure, an ambulance was called to the court, the "Committee against Torture" (CaT)* has reported.

Musaeva categorically denies the imputed offenses – both the administrative and criminal ones. At the same time, she did not refuse the help of the advocates provided to her by the CaT*, and has no plans to reject them on her own free will, says the message posted on the CaT's Telegram channel.

Musaeva "can hardly walk"; and advocates intend to seek additional medical examination of her, said Alexander Karavaev, one of the advocates. He said that an ambulance was called because Musaeva was fainting.

* The “Committee Against Torture” (CaT) was included by the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) of Russia in the register of NCOs-foreign agents in 2015. In this regard, leaders liquidated the organization and created a new legal entity: the “Committee for the Prevention of Torture”, which was also included in the list of foreign agents, and the organization was closed. At present, the “Committee Against Torture” operates as an unregistered public association.
