Woman from Kalach-on-Don complains about commissariat's refusal to help in delivering soldier's body

A resident of the town of Kalach-on-Don had to transport the body of her son, who had served in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) and perished during the special operation in Ukraine, by her own. According to her story, the bosses of the local commissariat (military registration and enlistment office) refused to help her. Igor Nagavkin, a human rights defender, sent an appeal to Russian President, Vladimir Putin, asking to check the actions of the military commissar of the Kalachyovsky District of the Volgograd Region.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that as of April 5, since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, the deaths of at least 17 natives of the Volgograd Region had been officially confirmed.

According to Valentina, a resident of Kalach-on-Don, a friend of her son said that her son Tom Porosyuk had perished in Ukraine. However, the local commissariat refused to help her in finding her son's body; therefore, she had to do it on her own.

She has added that Tom Porosyuk was 41; he had left a daughter behind. He had served under contract.

Igor Nagavkin has noted that he grew up in the same yard with Tom Porosyuk and is seeking a reaction to his friend's death.

"It cost nothing for the military commissar to help the mother over the phone so that the body could be taken from the DPR and buried at home. This is just bureaucratic lawlessness, because officials feel their impunity," Mr Nagavkin has concluded.

  • Compensation decrease for illegal prosecution violates rights of KBR resident

The court ruling, which awarded Madin Gubzhokov compensation of 30,000 roubles for unlawful criminal prosecution, is incomparable with the moral harm caused by the actions of Azamat Kyaov, a former law enforcer. The amount is ridiculous and should be appealed against, lawyers and human rights defenders have stated.
