A policeman from Rostov Region convicted of beating a detainee

A court found former policeman Filipp Mamonov from Bataysk guilty of beating a detainee and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that an investigation into a case instituted against the policeman under the article on abuse of power with the use of violence was launched in July 2020. According to sources, the chief of the police department was beating the detainee in order to force him to confess to a crime.

“Filipp Mamonov used violence against the victim to force him to confess to committing a crime under the article ‘intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm’,” the “Interfax” quotes the courts’ joint press service as reporting.
