Case against participant of the meeting on Kondopoga events stopped

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Karelia has stopped the criminal case initiated against Alexander Potkin (Belov), leader of the Movement against Illegal Migration, for absence of essential elements of offence, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the supervisory body.

We remind you that in November 2006 a criminal case was initiated against Mr. Potkin under Part 1, Article 282, of the Criminal Code (excitation of hatred or enmity, or abasement of human dignity). The charges comprised, in particular, expression of nationalist appeals during Potkin's performance at one of the meetings on Kondopoga events held last September.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier that the cause of disorders in the town of Kondopoga Republic of Karelia, was a mass fight between local residents and natives from the Caucasus, in the course of which Gregory Slizov, 27, and Sergey Usin, 32, a security guard of the central district hospital, were killed.
