Turkish Armenians: Dink's murder strengthened threats towards Armenian schools and churches

The murder of Hrant Dink was planned by a much bigger group than the one that has faced justice. Etienne Makhchupyan, editor-in-chief of the "Akos" newspaper, made this statement in Istanbul.

According to his version, many policemen had known about what should happen, but failed to prevent Mr Dink's murder.

We remind you that on July 2 the first hearing was held at the Istanbul Court on the murder case of the editor-in-chief of the "Akos" newspaper Hrant Dink, the second judicial session was appointed on October 1.

Ms Rakel Dink, Hrant Dink's widow, who spoke at the session, has stated that the Armenian community of Istanbul became hostage of the Turkish authorities and official propaganda.

Rober Attechyan, editor-in-chief of the Istanbul Armenian-language "Marmara" newspaper, has told Armenian journalists that after Dink's murder Armenian schools and churches began to receive frequent threats: "Schools are under atmosphere of fear, and the editorial boards have installed iron doors and TV cameras, since we are periodically warned that every moment something can happen."
