Two transgender people suffer in attack in Tbilisi
After an attack committed by a group of men with bottles and stones in Tbilisi, two transgender women received traumas; one of them needed hospitalization. The victims have complained about the police's inaction.
Thus January, the MPs of the PACE (Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe) expressed their concern about violations of the freedom of expression of LGBT people in Georgia.
According to the website of the "Formula-1" TV Channel, in Tbilisi, about 20 males attacked the transgender women.
"A very large stone hit me in the face. They had bottle fragments and used them to inflict bodily harm on us," the "News-Georgia" quoted one of the victims.
She said that other transgender women called the police, but there was no reaction from law enforcers.
Earlier, human rights defenders pointed to the growth of aggression against LGBT people in Georgia. Thus, on May 29, in Tbilisi, several dozen men attacked five transgender women.
The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that this year the organizers of the LGBT Week refused to hold the "March of Dignity" gay parade in Tbilisi, as they treated holding thereof as unsafe.
