Rights defenders count losses among militaries of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh
In the first half of this year, as a result of violating the ceasefire regime, nine military servicemen of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh perished, while during the same period of 2021, there were only three casualties, human rights defenders have informed. On the contrary, the non-combat losses decreased by five people.
In the first half of 2022, in the Armed Forces of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, a total of 30 servicemen perished, including nine as a result of ceasefire violations, says the report released on July 18 by the Vanadzor office of the Helsinki Civil Assembly.
According to rights defenders, seven servicemen died in road accidents; other seven from illnesses; four committed suicides or were brought to suicide; two were shot dead, and one person died in an accident.
For comparison, in the first half of 2021, a total of 29 servicemen perished in the Armed Forces of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, of which three perished as a result of ceasefire regime violations; nine – in road accidents; eight – from illnesses; four – as a result of accidents; and four were registered as committed suicide, and one was murdered, the report says.
