Execution of Djokhar Tsarnaev postponed
The execution of the death sentence of Djokhar Tsarnaev, a native of Chechnya, convicted of a terror act in Boston, has been postponed until his complaint is considered, his advocate has informed.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in July 2020, the US Court of Appeal overturned the verdict on the death penalty and ruled to reconsider the Djokhar Tsarnaev's case. The Court referred to the possible bias of the jury, who were selected in Boston, at the terror act venue. On March 4, 2022, the US Supreme Court upheld Tsarnaev's death sentence.
The execution of Djokhar Tsarnaev has been postponed indefinitely, his advocate, Cliff Gardner, has announced. According to his version, the death sentence can be executed only after the decision of the Court of Appeal, the "Lenta.ru" reports.
Let us remind you that the brothers Djokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev, according to the US special services, organized a terror act during the Boston Marathon on April 15, 2013. As a result, three persons perished and 180 others received various wounds.
Tamerlan Tsarnaev was killed during his detention; while Djokhar Tsarnaev was sentenced to death on June 25, 2015, in Boston, after which he was sent to a maximum security prison.
