NCFD republics are among top five in number of terrorist crimes
In January-July, 2022, Dagestan registered the largest number of terrorist crimes among Russian regions – it follows from the data of the Russia's General Prosecutor's Office (GPO). The top five of the rating also includes Ingushetia, Chechnya and Kabardino-Balkaria.
Dagestan is in the lead among the regions of Russia in terms of the number of registered crimes of a terrorist nature, as stated by the GPO for January-July 2022 in the portal of legal statistics.
A total of 315 such crimes were registered in Dagestan during the first seven months of this year. The runner-up with a wide margin is Moscow (90 crimes). The top five included three other regions of the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD): Ingushetia (82 crimes), Chechnya (62 crimes) and Kabardino-Balkaria (60 crimes).
The Krasnodar (47 crimes) and Stavropol Territories (41 crimes) are ranked eighth and ninth, respectively. In other regions of the NCFD and the Southern Federal District (SFD), the number of registered terrorist crimes is much fewer: the Rostov Region – 24 crimes; Karachay-Cherkessia – 22 crimes; the Volgograd Region – 19 crimes; the Astrakhan Region – 15 crimes; North Ossetia – 7 crimes; Adygea – 5 crimes; and Kalmykia – 2 crimes.
As to the total number of registered crimes, Kuban (the Krasnodar Territory) retained the second place after Moscow; in January-July, 2022, a total of 46,138 crimes were registered in the region.
