President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev held a meeting on kidnappings
Today, the third sitting during the recent three months on the issue of kidnappings was held under direction of President of Dagestan Mukhu Aliev.
According to Mukhu Aliev, Shamil Zeinalov, chairman of the government of Dagestan, had a meeting with the relatives of kidnapped persons, another extended session with participation of the relatives was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Republic, and a meeting took place also at the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic Dagestan.
"I had a personal meeting with Malikat Gasanova - mother of one of the kidnapped persons," Mukhu Aliev has added.
Igor Tkachov, Public Prosecutor of Dagestan, has reported that during the period from 1999 to seven months of 2007 inclusive, a total of 75 persons were kidnapped by people in camouflage in the territory of Dagestan. 41 persons were found, four others were found murdered, and the destiny of the remaining 30 persons is unknown so far.
Mukhu Aliev asked Minister Gazimagomedov, why the MIA was taking no measures on the facts reported by relatives of kidnapped persons, in particular, when they named the MIA's officers confirmed that the kidnapped persons are kept by them.
"You are discrediting both yourself and us," Mukhu Aliev has stated. "You have failed to reorganize and would not wish to understand that it is not 1999 now."
However, President Mukhu Aliev has added, that the demand of the participants of the action, Gulnara Rustamova in particular, to cancel the "Law on Prohibition of Wahhabite Activities," will never be satisfied.
