Kadyrov reports ransoming his horse with the help of Ukrainian special services

The stallion Zazu, who has disappeared from the stable in the Czech Republic, has been ransomed with the help of Ukrainian special services for USD 18,000, Ramzan Kadyrov, the head of Chechnya, has stated.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on March 8, 2023, Kadyrov stated that the value of the stolen stallion was not USD 18,000, as the Czech police had reported, but USD 10 million.

In its turn, the Czech Ministry of Finance reported that the stolen horse is on the list of sanctioned Kadyrov's property.

"At the beginning of this year, agents of Ukrainian special services contacted me through intermediaries and offered to buy Zazu out. They knew about my attachment to the horse and were right – of course, I agreed," Kadyrov has written in his Telegram channel.

According to Kadyrov, he "had thought that Zazu would be handed over officially." "But it turned out that secret services had a daring plan – they staged the stallion's theft from a stable in the Czech Republic in collusion with the Czech police," says his message.

Own horses are one of Kadyrov's sources of income. One of them, as he said, was presented to him by the Crown Prince of Dubai. Human rights defenders then noted that the cost of the horse significantly exceeded the value of the gifts that a Russian official is allowed to receive.
