Resident of Kabardino-Balkaria prosecuted for his posts on social media

The law enforcement bodies instituted a criminal case on extremism against a resident of the Urvan District after finding calls for extremism in his posts on the social media, the FSB reported.

According to the investigators’ version, the 29-year-old resident of the Urvan District posted on the social media the information which was later discovered by law enforcers. They treated it as calls for extremist activity.

The criminal case has been instituted under the article “Public calls for extremist activity” (provides for up to five years of imprisonment, – note of the “Caucasian Knot”), the RIA “Kabardino-Balkaria” reports with reference to the press service of the republic’s FSB Department.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that on January 27, the Nalchik City Court recognized a post of a local resident on the social media as a call to extremism and sentenced him to two years of probation.
