Poland explains deportation of ex-law enforcer Navruzbekov by distrust of him

Polish authorities have claimed that the information provided by Emran Navruzbekov, a former FSB (Federal Security Service) operative agent from Dagestan, who sought asylum, "as not deserving credibility."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in December 2022, Navruzbekov, who had left Russia and applied for political asylum in Europe, made public accusations against his colleagues. In an interview with Vladimir Osechkin*, the head of the human rights project "Gulagu.Net", Navruzbekov stated that FSB agents had been involved in committing terror acts in Dagestan and other regions of Northern Caucasus. On June 6, it became known that Poland, by ignoring the emergency complaint sent to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), deported Navruzbekov to Russia, treating his stay in Poland as a threat to national security. Navruzbekov's wife reported that he was arrested for 10 days.

Polish secret services have assessed the former FSB agent as "a person whose testimonies are unreliable and raise real doubts about the reason for his stay in Poland," the press service of the minister-coordinator of special services has stated.

Polish authorities have treated Navruzbekov's biography that he had presented as "contradictory, incorrect or unverifiable." His interview with journalists was regarded as "an attempt to prove himself" to the country's authorities. In this regard, the special services have decided that Navruzbekov's presence poses a threat to Poland, the "Kavkaz.Realii"* project reports.

Earlier, authorities justified the refusal to grant asylum to Navruzbekov by the facts that he had violated the behaviour rules in the refugee camp and failed to obey the policemen's demands during his detention on May 17, and was aggressive. Navruzbekov denies these facts.
