About 24,000 chickens incinerated in Krasnodar Territory
Lyubov Petrova, head of the veterinary service of the Bryukhovetskiy District, Krasnodar Territory, has told today the "Interfax" that about 24,000 chickens are incinerated at the poultry farm of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Lebyazhie-Chepiginskoe," where an outbreak of avian flue was revealed.
About five hundred hens died at the poultry farm " Lebyazhie-Chepiginskoe." The Krasnodar interregional veterinary laboratory examined the perished birds and found traces of virus H5 in them. Now, the quarantine measures are applied to the poultry farm.
The "Caucasian Knot" has already reported that on February 17-18, 2007, 3,000 dead wild ducks were detected in the territory of estuaries Bugazskiy and Kiziltarskiy of the Krasnodar Territory. In January, in three farmsteads of the Krasnodar Territory - in Luch settlement (suburb of Labinsk), Upornaya village of the Labinsk District and Borodinskaya village of the Primorsko-Akhtarskiy District - loss of birds was also registered. Then, the experts of the Federal Centre for Protection of Animals' Health confirmed that the reason of mass poultry mortality was H5N1 virus. In 2006, avian flue was registered in 93 settlements of the South and Siberian Federal Districts of Russia.
