Two KBR law enforcers detained on suspicion of violence

Two employees of the road-and-patrol service of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) (known as DPS) have been detained within the case of abuse of power. They demanded that a resident of Nalchik confess to drug dealing, and when he refused, they used force against him, investigators have suggested.

According to investigators, on July 7, 2023, policemen drove up to the house in Nalchik in their patrol car and, seeing the man, demanded to show his documents, turn out his pockets and confess to selling narcotic drugs. When he refused to do it, they threw him down on the ground and held, demanding a confession, investigators have reported, noting that the policemen (law enforcers) had no reason to suspect the man of committing a crime, and to use physical force against him.

The "Caucasian Knot" has also reported that on August 30, 2022, the Nalchik City Court sentenced three policemen within the case of torturing Alexander Knyazev and Valery Levdik to three years of conditional imprisonment. The judge re-qualified the law enforcers' actions to a softer part of the imputed article.
