Andrei Keilin released

On September 16, Andrei Keilin, who was in custody on suspicion of murdering students Dmitri Blakhin and Pavel Chadin on June 3 in Stavropol, has been released. His accusations under points "a" and "g" of part 2, Article 105 of the Criminal Code (murder of two persons accomplished by a group of persons) have been lifted.

On September 6, the additional monthly term of the defendant's custody expired. Under the petition of the Territorial Prosecutor's Office, the Leninskiy District Court of Stavropol extended Keilin's custody by 10 days. After that, Andrei Keilin went on hunger strike. The judicial session was held without Keilin's advocates: one of them was on a sick leave and the other one was busy with some other litigation.

Today, the press service of the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee under the Russian Prosecutor's Office for the Stavropol Territory has reported as follows:

"A. Keilin was held in custody for 3 months, since his alibi was checked by investigatory and operative methods, and a complex of criminalistic and medical forensic examinations was performed. Last week, the results of the final judicial examinations under the criminal case were received, and the conclusions thereof, along with other evidences, prove Keilin's innocence in relation to the indicted crime."

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported earlier with reference to advocate Roman Belan that the issue of Mr Keilin's indemnification for the actions of the Prosecutor's Office will be considered additionally.
