Volgodonsk resident found guilty of discrediting Russian Army

In Volgodonsk, a court found Irina Ponomaryova guilty of discrediting the Russian Armed Forces.

On April 11, the woman filed an appeal against the court’s decision.

The “Caucasian Knot” has also reported that in Bataisk, a court recognized entries posted on a social network by blogger Nelly Shtefan about participants of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine as discrediting the Russian Armed Forces. The blogger was obliged to pay a fine of 30,000 roubles. Nelly Shtefan apologized, explaining her posts by the effects of the medicines she took, but then claimed that she recorded a video of the apology under pressure.

On January 29, it became known that in Shakhty, a court sentenced 72-year-old Yevgeniya Maiboroda to 5.5 years of imprisonment, recognizing her reposts on a social network about the Russian Army as fakes and calls for extremism. The pensioner was sentenced to imprisonment for her pacifist position, and her prosecution is politically motivated, human rights defenders state.
