Kuban resident convicted in treason case

The court has sentenced Daniil Zinkovsky, a resident of the Leningradskaya village, to seven years of freedom deprivation, finding him guilty of attempting to defect to the Ukrainian side and join one of the armed formations there.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in September and December of 2023, in the Krasnodar Territory (also known as Kuban), law enforcers at least twice reported on the detention of suspects who got ready to pass over to the side of Ukraine. Criminal cases of attempted treason were opened against them.

According to the court, in September 2022, the 21-year-old Daniil Zinkovsky, an opponent of the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine, phoned some people who wanted to join the Ukrainian Territorial Defence Legion and announced his intention to join the Ukrainian armed formation. He went to the Rostov Region, where he was detained. Zinkovsky has fully admitted his guilt in attempted treason and repented, the joint press service of the courts of the Krasnodar Territory has informed.
