Adam Kadyrov gets highest award of Chechnya

Adam Kadyrov, a son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, the chief of the security department of the head of the republic, has been awarded with the Order of Kadyrov, the highest award of the republic.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that on September 25, 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov posted on the Internet a video in which his son Adam Kadyrov was beating Nikita Zhuravel at a SIZO (pre-trial prison). The leader of Chechnya praised his son for his action. After the above beating, Adam Kadyrov was awarded with the title of Hero of Chechnya and the highest state awards of Karachay-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria.

Akhmed Dudaev, Minister of National Policy, External Relations, Press, and Information of Chechnya, called the presentation of the award to Adam Kadyrov “a well-deserved recognition of high moral qualities and dedication to the cause.” The Chechen Minister also called Adam Kadyrov a true patriot of the homeland, who worthily represents his “glorious family.”

On November 5, 2023, it became known that Adam Kadyrov, shortly before his 16th birthday, was appointed the chief of the security department of the head of the republic. The above appointment does not correspond well with labour legislation for teenagers and only emphasizes the hereditary principle of forming power in the republic, human rights defenders point out. They suggest that for Adam Kadyrov, the appointment is a test of his ability to lead Chechnya after his father.
