In Stavropol Territory, court starts trial in case on riots at Makhachkala airport

The first hearing in a case on riots at the “Uitash” airport in Makhachkala was held at a court in the Stavropol Territory. Two of the eight defendants, in addition to participating in mass riots and violating transport safety rules, have been accused of attacking policemen.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that courts of the Krasnodar and Stavropol Territories are to consider 27 criminal cases on riots at the Makhachkala airport against 129 defendants, as the General Prosecutor Office reported in October. On November 26, the Oktyabrsky District Court of Stavropol began considering a case against three residents of Dagestan.

The Promyshlenny District Court of Stavropol began considering a criminal case against eight residents of Dagestan, the “Interfax” news agency reported.

The prisoner’s dock contain Magomed Mamaev, Magomedmukhtar Ismailov, Kurbanismail Magomedov, Akhmedrasul Isabudinov, Yusup Ikhakov, Shamil Gulmagomedov, Magomedmurad Magomedov, and Mukhamat Asadov. They are accused of participating in mass riots, violating transport safety requirements, and using violence against a law enforcer, the Stavropol Territory Prosecutor’s Office reports on its Telegram channel.

The “Caucasian Knot” has reported that the Armavir City Court sentenced defendants in a case on the riots at the Makhachkala airport, including Anvarbek Ataev, Islam Ibragimov, Magomed Omaraskhabov, Rabadan Radjabov, and Salik Ramazanov, to terms of imprisonment ranging from six years and four months to nine years. The court pronounced the harsh sentence without evidence of the defendants’ guilt, lawyers and relatives of the convicted men stated. The defence filed an appeal against the sentence, but the court of appeal upheld the verdict on November 25.
