Exit polls differ on Armenian election

According to the exit polls conducted by the "Alliance" civil initiative group, Levon Ter-Petrosyan was in the lead at the election. According to the exit polls held by the Populus British Company under the order of the Public TV of Armenia, Serzh Sarkisyan was in the lead with a high gap.

The "Alliance" Group was holding its exit polls at one hundred of Polling Stations. In total, they interviewed 4,406 persons, out of whom 3,550 persons (66%) agreed to answer for whom they had voted. According to Mr Melikyan, the exit polls of the Group were ordered by nobody - they were conducted by youth organizations of Armenia.

According to the data announced by Gevork Melikyan, deputy chairman of the "Alliance" Group, 1084 respondents (35.4%) had voted for Serzh Sarkisyan, prime minister of the country and leader of the Republican Party of Armenia, and 1152 respondents (37.7%) had voted for ex-president Ter-Petrosyan, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

Meanwhile, the Reuters Agency has reported, with reference to the Populus British Company that worked under the order of the Public TV of Armenia, the data of the polls, under which Serzh Sarkisyan won 57.01% of votes, while Levon Ter-Petrosyan - only 17.04%.
