Russia's culture figures ask Alexis II to help Maskhadov's family in getting his remains

Well-known workers of culture have joined the appeal of the participants of the movement against the war in Northern Caucasus to Patriarch Alexis II with an appeal to assist in handing the remains of Aslan Maskhadov, second President of Chechnya and leader of separatists, out to his relatives. Among them: singer Iossif Kobzon, writer Marietta Chudakova, playwright Vadim Zhuk, poet Lev Rubinshtein, translator Natalia Trauberg and writer Alla Gerber.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed about by Andrei Nalyotov, an activist of the Committee of Anti-War Actions who gathered signatures under petition to the leader of the Russian Orthodox Church. Also, as he said, historian Liudmila Alekseeva, chair of the Moscow Helsinki Group, also joined the appeal.
