Four persons arrested in Astrakhan Region on charges of kindling anti-Semitism
The RIA "Novosti" has reported today, with reference to the Investigatory Committee at the Russian Prosecutor's Office, that four residents of the city of Akhtubinsk (Astrakhan Regions), accused of setting up an extremist community, were arrested for propaganda of anti-Semitism.
According to the IA "Avers", the investigators believe that these persons founded, in the period from February 2002 to September 2007, an extremist community - the Akhtubinsk Popular Movement "To God Power" - with the basic aim to form negative attitude to Judaism and its adherents by exposing a negative image of Jews and stating the inherent deficiency of this nation.
We remind you that the "Caucasian Knot" informed earlier that in Dagestan on December 27, 2007, unknown persons showered stones on the house of Rabbi of the city of Derbent Ovadia Isakov. On December 24 at night, unknown persons broke the windows of all three floors of Makhachkala synagogue. Both incidents were similar by the manner and time when the attacks were committed.
At night of September 22, 2006, in Astrakhan, unknown persons attacked the "Sfard" synagogue - the centre of the Jewish community of the city.
