Topadze: tragedy in Abkhazia may be repeated

Georgi Topadze, leader of the opposition party "Industry will Save Georgia" stated in an interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the tragedy in Abkhazia will be repeated if Georgia acts aggressively.

"If Georgia embarks on the path of aggression the tragedy in Abkhazia may be repeated. It is dangerous to only rely on Americans. Normalizing relations is an option for a way out. In this situation, we must find ways to have a dialogue with Russia ", said Topadze.

The "Caucasian Knot" already reported that yesterday, on May 1, the Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed Viacheslav Kovalenko, Russian ambassador in the country, a note of protest in connection with the decision of Russia to expand its peace-making force in the Georgia-Abkhazia conflict zone.

For reference, on April 30, additional troops of CIS Collective Peace-Making Forces in the Georgia-Abkhazia conflict zone were deployed.

David Bakradze, the country's president special representative, announced that Georgia would never accept the expansion of Russian peace-makers in Abkhazia.
