Kadyrov: no traditions are excuse for women's murderers

President of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov has stated that no traditions can exculpate the murderers of six women in Chechnya.

We remind you that bodies of six killed young women were found on November 26 in several districts of Chechnya. The age of the casualties was from 25 to 36.

"It's a blatant fact. Such things have never happened in the territory of the Republic. Whoever they are, the killers cannot be justified by reference to traditions. Moreover, there are no such traditions in people's customs or in Islam," said Mr Kadyrov at the expanded sitting of his Government and heads of district and urban administrations.

President of Chechnya has also called to strengthen "prophylactic measures towards early prevention of this sort of crimes." This was reported by the press service of the President and the Government.

The "Kommersant" writes today that a similar statement was made yesterday by Chechen Ombudsman Nurdi Nukhazhiev. He has noted that "to avoid such incidents, the Republic's leadership has recently started paying steadfast attention to moral upbringing of the population. The mass media are actively promoting spiritual and moral values; respective sermons are read in the mosques.

According to the "Rossiyskaya Gazeta", yesterday the Investigatory Department of the Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO) and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Chechnya officially refuted the news, which had appeared in some media, that two more women were killed in the Republic.
