Armenia: investigation of March 1 mass disorders is over

The Special Investigatory Service of Armenia has sent the so-called "Case of Seven", related to the events of March 1, to the Criminal Court of Yerevan. Seven oppositionists are accused of an attempt of violent overthrow of the existing power.

The figurants in the case are Deputies of the National Assembly: Miasnik Malkhasyan, Sasun Mikaelyan, Akop Akopyan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Alexander Arzumanyan, and also other leaders of the opposition: Shant Arutyunyan, Grigor Voskerchyan, Suren Sirunyan.

David Shakhnazaryan, spokesman of the Armenian National Congress, has noted that the authorities are doing everything to hide the atrocities against peaceful demonstrators, and treated the "Case of Seven" as a shame for the country. His special indignation was caused by the fact that all the materials about murders were mechanically included into the files of this case.
