Picket in defence of Utrish held in Krasnodar Territory
On February 14, the city of Anapa, Krasnodar Territory, hosted a picket against destruction of unique natural complexes of Utrish, organized by the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus.
According to the organizers of the protest action, its aim was to attract the attention of the public of the city-resort to the preservation problems of the Utrish nature, where, according to the decision of the Government of Russia, a wildlife sanctuary should be created.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that a sign-in campaign was opened in the Internet under the appeal to Russian President and Government asking to create a wildlife sanctuary "Bolshoi Utrish" in the Krasnodar Territory.
"The authorities should ensure removal of all the obstacles to creation of the 'Utrish' sanctuary and force the structures wishing, in their mercenary aspirations, to subjugate the unique Utrish nature for their recreational needs, to completely give up any plans of economic development of the territory of the future sanctuary," the "Yuga.ru" Agency quotes the participants of the action in Anapa.
On January 5, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reported that the Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus and the Movement "Save Utrish!" again managed to suspend the construction of the Sukko-Utrish motorway in the "Bolshoi Utrish" reserve in the Krasnodar Territory. According to the "Greenpeace of Russia", in the evening on January 15, they started to remove machinery out of the territory of the reserve.
