Defendants in Nalchik attack case challenge the head of prosecution group
Today, at the hearings about the attack on power structures in Kabardino-Balkaria, the defendants have petitioned challenge to Olga Chibinyova, head of the prosecution group, under the motive that this employee of the prosecutor's office "did everything to protract the trial not to admit formation of the board of jurymen."
We remind you that yesterday the defendants petitioned a challenge to the court, which was supported by some advocates. Today, the court has announced its decision on that challenge, running that the petition was left unsatisfied, since "there are no legal grounds to challenge the court."
In the opinion of the court, the check of legality of consideration of this criminal case by the panel of three professional judges is "beyond the competence of the court."
Defendant Zalim Ulimbashev has claimed challenge to all the employees of the Prosecutor's Office of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) who take part in the litigation, because, in his opinion, they are the suffered party. "The KBR Prosecutor's Office was listed among the objects to be attacked."
Defendant Zaur Tokhov has claimed challenge to "all public prosecutors." "When the convoy was beating me like their own donkeys, they just chuckled," he said.
The defendants' petition to challenge the prosecution was supported by practically all the advocates.
In their turn, representatives of the accusation have named the reasons put forward against them to be "far-fetched and false."
Tomorrow the court will announce its decision on challenge of the prosecution.
