Moscow held a ceremony in memory of "Nord-Ost" victims
Friends and relatives of the victims of the 2002 terror act in the Dubrovka Theater Centre gathered today in Moscow near the place of the tragedy to keep one minute's silence in remembrance of those perished. The names of all the victims were read aloud. People lighted candles and put flowers to the memorial board and steps of the building. 130 white balloons, equal to the number of the victims, were let flying into the air, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
Hostages were taken during performance of the musical "Nord-Ost" in the Dubrovka Theater Centre at night of October 23, 2002, and today Russia is commemorating the sad date. We remind you that on that day 40 militants headed by Movsar Baraev took 912 hostages, many women and children among them. Most of the hostages were rescued as a result of a special operation in the morning of October 26, 2002. However, 130 lives were carried away by the tragedy.
