German journalist deported from Chechnya

On Thursday December 14, Wanner Christoph, journalist of the Deutsche Welle TV Company, was brought to militia of Grozny, capital of Chechnya. Law enforcement bodies of the South Federal District (SFD) told the "Interfax" about it. They have stated at the Moscow Bureau of the TV Company that they cannot confirm the information about journalist's detainment.

After examining documents and identifying the person of the German journalist, he was offered to quit the territory of Chechnya. The RIA "Novosti" reports that Mr. Christoph was deported to Dagestan. "The correspondent, while having no accreditation and accompaniment, without informing local authorities, has penetrated by his own into the area of counter-terrorist operation and made video filming in the Oktiabrskiy District," the source in the law enforcement bodies said.

Meanwhile, the NEWSru.com noted that the counter-terrorist operation mentioned by the representative of the SFD law enforcement bodies is over in Chechnya. The fact was announced by Russian president Vladimir Putin himself back last winter in the Kremlin, when he noted that "all the bodies of state power are in place in Chechnya" and "law enforcement bodies of Chechnya have in fact taken the main responsibility for the condition of the law enforcement sphere."
