In Volgograd Region they judge skinheads who attacked Gipsies
On April 10, 2007, the Volgograd Regional Court started a trial on the attack committed on April 13, 2006, by skinheads on a Gipsy settlement and the murder of two persons in the vicinity of the city of Volzhskiy, Volgograd Region. Candidates for the jury were invited to the courtroom. Elena Konstantinova, chair of the NGO for defence of the rights of Gipsy women "Congress of Romani Women - Juvlicano Romano Congresso," told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that 17 persons were chosen out of 56.
According to Ms. Konstantinova, the Court made no move towards the victims and banned using an interpreter, suggesting to do without victims at all and read their evidences only.
The skinheads attacked the Gipsies' tent camp located in the vicinity of Volzhskiy, Volgograd Region, at night from April 12 to 13, 2006. The culprits beat people in tents with stones and sticks, two persons were killed and several more seriously wounded.
