CEC of Nagorno-Karabakh checked up the data on pre-election violations

On July 13 and 16, the electoral headquarters of Masis Mailyan, candidate for President of Nagorno-Karabakh, sent complaints to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), which listed more than 40 facts of possible law violations. On July 17, the CEC Chairman sent an official answer noting that checks have been undertaken on the listed facts.

Part of the facts have been confirmed and already corrected, in particular, the presence in the territory of the electoral commissions of agitation materials of one of the candidates.

We remind you that M. Mailyan's headquarters also complained that some districts witnessed the "growth" of the number of voters that can result in mass "planting" of ballot papers.

To this, the CEC has responded as follows: "...It was found out as a result of the checks that in the Kashatag and Shaumyan Districts new citizens were not registered; just the expired registration of temporarily registered and resident citizens of these Districts was extended till the end of 2007."

Concerning certain possible violations of the law, Sergey Nasibyan, CEC Chairman, has answered that they "cannot be discussed by the CEC, since checking them is beyond its round of duties and opportunities."

Tomorrow, Nagorno-Karabakh will elect its third president out of five candidates.
