This year, over 300 persons fell victim of racist attacks in Russia
"From the beginning of 2007, 36 persons were killed and 268 others wounded as a result of racist attacks," Galina Kozhevnikova, deputy director of the "Sova" Analytical Centre, has said today.
According to her story, this year national-enmity-motivated attacks have been registered in 31 regions. Among the "leaders" are Moscow, St-Petersburg and Nizhni Novgorod. "This year in Moscow 24 persons perished and 113 others suffered as a result of racist attacks. In St-Petersburg four persons were lost and 64 others wounded. Nizhni Novgorod has 34 victims," Ms Kozhevnikova said.
According to the data of the "Sova" Centre, quoted by the "Interfax," in 2007 Russia has also witnessed more frequent cases of vandalism. Most often, acts of vandalism are committed against Jewish objects (11 cases) and objects of Protestants of various denominations (8 cases).
The information of the "Caucasian Knot" has already noted that attacks on Azerbaijanis and Armenians in Moscow are also becoming more and more frequent. The attackers explain the motives of their aggression against the natives of Azerbaijan and Armenia who arrive to Moscow, as well as against natives from other regions of the Caucasus, by their desire "to clear off the city."
