Distributor of extremist leaflets detained in Stavropol Territory

A local resident suspected of spreading extremist leaflets was detained in Novoblagodarny settlement of the Predgorny District of the Stavropol Territory. A source from the law enforcement bodies has reported that at night the houses of the settlement "were decorated" with leaflets that "recommended" the Slavic population to leave the Stavropol Territory, the "Stavropolskaya Pravda" newspaper writes.

A criminal case was initiated on the fact.

The "Caucasian Knot" has informed earlier that the Stavropol Territory has recently started to appear among the regions where emergencies in the sphere of interethnic relations occur.

According to Public Prosecutor of the Territory Ivan Poluektov, the disturbances in May-June in the territorial capital stemmed from the fact that for many years the authorities simply kept their eyes closed on the growing year by year interethnic tension and incessant collisions between representatives of various ethnic groups, and on the outflow of indigenous population from the eastern areas of the Territory.

During the first half-year of 2007, public prosecutors have revealed 716 violations of the legislation on counteracting extremism and terrorism, nine criminal cases were initiated.
