Former miners go on hunger strike in Rostov Region
22 former miners from Maiskiy settlement in the Rostov Region have announced a dry hunger strike. The protesters demand compensation for their houses lost two years ago in a fire in miners' barracks, the Radio Liberty has informed today.
The hunger-strikers assert that the millions of roubles allocated for the purpose from the regional budget were plundered by local authorities. The miners have stated that they will hold their action until the corrupted bureaucrats have been brought to criminal responsibility, the Gazeta.Ru reports.
