Funeral of religious figure grow into a meeting in Dagestan

Practically all the residents of the village, as well as of the neighbouring ones, came to the funeral of Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov, minister of the local mosque, who was killed today morning in the Dagestan village of Gubden. They regard that the murder was motivated by religious hatred.

The funeral has grown into a spontaneous meeting, where the residents have toughly condemned the criminals. They are convinced that the murder was committed by participants of illegal armed formations.

"There were so many people at the meeting that I could not find a place to park my car," a source has reported from the venue of the events to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov, a kadi of the rural mosque, who was murdered today morning in Gubden village, was one of the most authoritative religious figures in the Karabudakhkent District and far beyond its borders. He was an Arabic scientist, a graduate of the Islamic University in Samarkand, and taught at the local medrese.

"Gadzhimagomedov was the first among religious figures who opposed the Wahhabism trend and spoke about the harm and danger of this movement," a teacher from Gubden said.
