Putin: investigation into Politkovskaya's case is near its end

President of Russia Vladimir Putin believes that the investigation of the murder case of journalist Anna Politkovskaya is on the proper track and close to its end.

"The issue of the customers of this murder, its executors, and of preparation of the crime, is obvious, the detainees are giving confession evidences. Some of the detainees were released, it's correct," Mr Putin said to the press conference in Wiesbaden, Germany.

"It speaks well for the quality of investigation. As a whole, it is on the right track," the RIA "Novosti" quotes Russian President.

Mr Putin has also added that when investigating this sort of cases one should "run too ahead" and disclose the results of investigation ahead of time: "Until the court announces the indictment, everyone shall be deemed innocent."
