Georgian authorities prevent to restart broadcasting of the "Imedi" Radio

The government of Georgia does not allow the "Imedi" Radio Station to resume broadcasting. According to Nona Kandiashvili, director for broadcasting matters of the Radio Station, she wanted today, together with her employees, to enter the building of the Radio Station in order to resume broadcasting, but the employees of the guarding department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia did not let them do it.

Ms Kandiashvili has noted that the Station's directorate did not receive any notifications from the authorities about the ban on broadcasting, the "Gazeta.Ru" reports.

We remind you that the meeting of the leaders of the united opposition of Georgia with the Speaker of the Parliament Nino Burdzhanadze, planned for today, will not take place - the opposition has refused to launch a dialogue with the authorities.

According to Giya Tortladze, a member of the conservatives, the dialogue will go on after restart of the "Imedi" TV and Radio Company and release of political prisoners. In case of non-fulfilment of these demands, the opposition is going to continue its street protest actions.

The "Caucasian Knot" informed earlier that in the opinion of Badri Patarkatsishvili, a businessman and founder of the "Imedi", President of Georgia Mikhail Saakashvili should sanction the reopening of the "Imedi" TV and Radio Company and admission of all potential candidates to elections. Otherwise, in Mr Patarkatsishvili's opinion, the President will acquire the image of "dictator" in the eyes of the whole world.
