Scandal in children's home in Volgograd Region: Children Ombudsperson's comments

Nina Boldyreva, Children Ombudsperson for the Volgograd Region, thinks that violations of the rights of orphans in children's homes will continue until the very principle of organizing such establishments is changed.

She has made the statement while making comments on the facts elicited recently by the prosecutor's office of sexual harassments by director to minor pupils of the State Educational Establishment (SEE) "Rudnyanskiy Children's Home".

"I'm not yet aware of these events, now the Regional Education Committee is studying the case," Nina Boldyreva has noted. "However, I'm sure that violations of rights of children-orphans will repeat until we change the very principle of their education at large establishments where there are no transparency and openness."

The Ombudsperson asserts that children's homes with plenty of pupils should be replaced for the western model of small boarding schools and "weekend families", the IA "Rosbalt" reports.
