In Dagestan capital electricity supply breaks complicate the work of hospitals

Because of absence of electricity in Makhachkala, the capital of Dagestan, medical and social establishments have to use power generators, and residents are buying candles and pocket lanterns.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the resuscitation ward of the Republic's Clinical Hospital, for lack of electric power their artificial respiration unit is out of operation. Failures of electric power supplies create serious problems for the doctors, especially during making surgeries.

According to one of the physicians of the surgical ward of the hospital, who has preferred to remain anonymous, today there was no electricity in the whole six-storied building of the Republic's Clinical Hospital, which houses ten wards. They have same problems at home.

"In frosty days, because of absence of electric power, supply of gas to boiler-houses was stopped. As a result, the heating system collapsed, and pipes in the heating systems blew up. Now, residents will have to live the rest of the winter without heating," the doctor has explained.
